When the iconic and historic Arcade Building in St. Louis, MO was going through a much needed renovation AND conversion into apartments the imminent need for tenant storage solutions became a priority.
The Arcade building had sat vacant for years until a developer purchased the property in late 2013 with a vision of restoring the landmark and converting it into apartment units for artists, regular tenants, and classrooms for a local university. For its residents, the Building will also boast 11,000 square feet of shared artist studio space, a fitness center, yoga studio, dance studio, car wash, multiple lounge spaces, a rooftop clubroom with a terrace overlooking the city, among other amenities geared toward urbanizing the facility for its residents.
With 282 newly renovated residential units, the added strain on the 100 year old building’s infrastructure was evident. In an effort to maximize the space and provide added benefits for its tenants, ISS Material Handling, a longtime WireCrafters dealer located in St. Louis Missouri, was tasked with solving the unique challenge.
The customer identified WireCrafters’ Tenant Storage lockers as the perfect solution as the building was built in the early 1900’s, providing many complex corners and walls that needed a non-standard application to fit the space and meet the needs of the project.
WireCrafters’ welded wire tenant storage lockers are an ideal way to provide tenants with additional storage space within common areas in multi-family buildings, condos and apartments where space is limited. This additional storage is very valuable to the tenants, and for the building, it can be a selling feature. Most building owners receive a monthly fee from their tenant for this added value and payback is fast.
In total, 96 tenant storage lockers were utilized on the project, ranging in varying sizes, complexities of application and location throughout the building. WireCrafters Sales team worked closely with our dealer on the project; ISS Material Handling provided field measurements to WireCrafters’ drafting department, which in turn provided integrated drawings for approval. Several installations required modifications to the original design to incorporate existing mechanical, electrical and plumbing fixtures. Industrial Shelving Systems coordinated precise field measurements and the detail was provided for special cutouts and specs to the existing order.
