Designed for Safety in a Tight Footprint
Project Overview:
Finding usable storage space in an active facility often requires creative problem-solving, especially when operations leave little room for expansion. At NB West Contracting, an unused area between overhead doors offered an opportunity to create a more organized, secure storage system without disrupting workflow across the facility. Working with Industrial Shelving Systems, WireCrafters helped transform the space into a functional storage solution that balances safety and efficiency.
Customer Description
NB West Contracting needed to create a secure tool crib in a tight, high-traffic area located between overhead doors. The space presented a challenge because the facility still needed to maintain movement and workflow while creating protected storage for tools and inventory. Without a defined enclosure, both employees and stored materials remained vulnerable to accidental damage and unauthorized access. The project required a solution that could maximize limited space, improve organization, and provide protection for personnel and valuable inventory in an active work environment.

Why Choose WireCrafters?
Industrial Shelving Systems worked closely with NB West Contracting to develop a storage solution that could maximize a tight, high-traffic area without compromising safety. After Jason from NB West reached out about the need for additional tool storage, the ISS Project Manager, Tom, visited the facility to evaluate the space and complete an inventory assessment. Using AutoCAD, Tom demonstrated how the team could fit two tool cribs with a custom full-mat mezzanine between the overhead doors. ISS knew WireCrafters offered the right combination of safety, durability, and flexibility for the project. The lower level used WireCrafters’ partitions and sliding doors to secure small to medium-sized inventory, while the full-mat mezzanine with bar grating decking supported large bulk inventory above. A WireCrafters’ sliding gate on the upper level also functioned as a pallet drop gate. Unlike traditional handrail systems, the WireCrafters’ solution helped keep inventory secure while reducing the risk of boxes or materials falling from the mezzanine onto employees below.
