Celebrating National Volunteer Week: Wired to Care, Crafted to Serve
At WireCrafters, service is a part of who we are. As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, we are taking a moment to reflect on the impact our team has made in our community, most recently through an incredible experience at Adventure Camp hosted at Camp Crooked Creek.
Over the past week, several dozen employees stepped away from their day-to-day roles and into the great outdoors to support this annual event. Adventure Camp brings students with diverse abilities together for a day full of fun, connection, and confidence-building. From helping children take aim at the archery range to guiding hands-on creativity at the arts and crafts station, our team was all in–matching energy and smiles.
“I love working for a company that allows paid time for employees to volunteer and help out! It was one of the BEST experiences to watch these kids enjoy the outdoors and learn new things,” said West Coast Inside Sales Representative Kayla Baker. “We made some good memories and some awesome bracelets!”
A Culture of Giving Year-Round
“I would love to do the experience again. I enjoyed seeing how happy the kids were; that was awesome,” said Weld Production Worker Anthony Money. “It’s something we take for granted that something so little made their whole day. I’m so thankful to our company for allowing opportunities like these.”
Adventure Camp is just one of the many ways WireCrafters shows up for our community. Throughout the last year, our employees have generously given their time and energy to a wide range of causes:
- Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program: Our team adopted dozens of children for the holidays and shopped for clothing, toys, and necessities to make Christmas special for families in need.
- Red Shield Golf Scramble: WireCrafters served as a Platinum Sponsor and fielded two teams to support the Salvation Army’s annual fundraising event at Polo Fields.
- MORE THAN PINK Walk: Led by Quality Work Leader Rebecca Bratcher, Team WireCrafters participated in this powerful event supporting breast cancer research and awareness.
- Polar Bear Plunge: Brave employees took an icy dip to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Kentucky.
Why It Matters
Volunteering is more than a feel-good moment; it reflects our values. “Volunteering has become a cornerstone of the WireCrafters culture. Giving back to the community and assisting those in need aligns with our core values, particularly the value of people. Participating in the recent adventure camp, for instance, not only fosters a sense of camaraderie among employees but also boosts morale within the company,” said Director of Operational Excellence David Shearn. “By spending a workday volunteering in the community, our employees gain a tangible sense of the positive impact they make, which positively influences their perception of WireCrafters, their work, and the company’s mission.”
