Evidence Storage Cage for a County Jail Facility
Project Overview:
Evidence and recovered property require secure storage, careful organization, and reliable access controls throughout the chain of custody. At the Travis County Sheriff's Department, those requirements extended beyond traditional evidence storage to include larger recovered items that needed protection from both unauthorized access and the elements. Cisco-Eagle partnered with WireCrafters to provide a customized galvanized storage enclosure that combined secure evidence storage, large-item capacity, and the flexibility to adapt to the department's specific operational needs.
Customer Description
The Travis County Sheriff's Department needed a secure storage solution for confiscated evidence and recovered property held at its jail facility. These items must remain in custody until legal proceedings are complete or until they can be returned to their rightful owners. The department needed storage space for a wide range of property, from small evidence items to larger assets such as lawnmowers, but available indoor space was limited. While the facility did not have room inside for the enclosure, it did have space within a protected outdoor area, making an exterior installation the ideal solution. To withstand outdoor conditions, the enclosure was finished in galvanized steel for long-term durability and corrosion resistance. Large storage lockers were incorporated within the cage to improve organization and provide secure storage for a variety of items. After the enclosure arrived on site, the customer requested a revised layout. Jodie Perkins with Cisco-Eagle adapted the configuration using the provided materials, incorporating the lockers into a customized arrangement that better met the department's operational needs.
