Custom Robot Guarding for a University Robotics Lab
Project Overview:
Hands-on learning gives Engineering students valuable experience with real equipment. Missouri University of Science and Technology wanted to support that experience within its mechanical engineering department. Industrial Shelving Systems helped the university select a WireCrafters 840 solution for the space. The project used the system to create machine guarding that supports the department’s learning and research environment.
Customer Description
The Engineering Department needed to guard a robot used in a lab. Students and staff work near the robot, so the area required a safe barrier. The university shared the exact robot specs and the size of the space it wanted to guard. WireCrafters used those details to design a custom machine guard with two work cells. The layout uses wire caging on two sides and light curtains on the other two. WireCrafters built the guard to the exact size of the space and finished it in the yellow color the customer requested. The final system fits the application and helps keep students and staff away from the robot during use.
Why Choose WireCrafters?
Industrial Shelving Systems trusts WireCrafters to deliver safe and custom solutions. The dealer knew WireCrafters could meet the university's exact needs. The team used the space and robot dimensions to create a machine guard that fit the application. WireCrafters also gave the dealer the flexibility needed for a custom project. The finished system created a more controlled work area for students and staff. It also gave Industrial Shelving Systems a proven solution built around the customer’s needs.
