WireCrafters Secures Data Center Servers & Company Data [Case Study]
Windstream is the leading provider of advanced network communications, including cloud computing and managed services, to businesses nationwide. The company also offers broadband, phone and digital TV services to consumers primarily in rural areas.
When Windstream began receiving their customers’ servers and computer equipment into their data center, they needed to create a contained, secure area because of the sensitive information stored on the server equipment.

Strong, Durable, and Impressive Hosting Colocation Cages
Windstream Data Centers divide their hosting facilities with WireCrafters secure wire partition server cages in their facilities across the country. These Server Colocation Cages are used to economically separate and secure customer specific server or network equipment. The easily reconfigurable Style 840 Wire Partitions utilize an open but secure design, allowing free circulation of light, HVAC, and fire suppression systems throughout the secured server storage areas.
Strong, durable, and attractive server cages are impressive to potential clients by paying attention to quality and security.
Secure Cages for Data Centers
The receiving room, or temporary holding pen, at Windstream was outfitted with a secure server cage made up of WireCrafters Style 840 Wire Partitions. A 3 x 7 hinged door was installed at one end of the secured area to allow personnel controlled access to the enclosure. At the opposite end of the enclosure, a five foot sliding door was installed to allow larger computer and server equipment to be brought into the area via a pallet jack.
Southwest Solutions installed the secure wire partitions around the shelving units that the computer and server equipment would be stored on. Windstream decided upon a 10′-5 1/4″ high secure server cage which gave them security to the underside of the ceiling joists.
Server Security is Guaranteed
Our secure Server Cages are constructed of Style 840 Wire Partition panels made from 10 gauge wire, woven into a 2″ x 1″ rectangular mesh design. This wire mesh is then framed in a 1 1/4″ x 1 1/4″ x 1/8″ hot rolled angle frame.
Depending on the size of the wire partition panels, we also weld a flat stiffener bar to the wire mesh and angle frame for added durability. WireCrafters designs our Secure Server Cages with all of the hardware on the inside of the enclosure for maximum security. With hardware only accessible from the inside of the secured enclosure, security is guaranteed. Ceilings are also available as an option to further increase the security of your server cage system.
